Preparation is Key:

To help you plan your relocation there are some steps to consider before you move. The following measures should help save you time, money and stress and can help make your move a smooth one.

Packing and Unpacking:

When packing for your move, Multimovers can provide as much or as little support as you need. A team can be arranged to pack everything in your home or just a part pack is required. This is usually the fragile contents which need extra care and attention. This is a convenient service to save you time and effort but also having your goods professionally packed will mean they are covered by our standard liability cover. This is an industry standard and required by insurers.

With any removal company that you agree to undertake your move please take the time to familiarise yourself with their terms and conditions which explain the rights, obligations and responsibilities of all parties to that agreement. Multimovers’ terms and conditions are BAR (British Association of Removers) approved and have also also been approved by the office of fair trading. They are attached with all emailed quotations and booking confirmations. If you have any questions regarding these documents or require clarification then this should be discussed before acceptance of the quotation. These terms are also on the reverse side of the worksheet that you’ll be requested to sign upon us starting your relocation.

If you choose to pack yourself but still require materials then we can deliver anywhere within the following postcodes – CR, BR, SM, SE, SW, KT, RH and WC & EC (NB: minimum order and/or congestion charge applies for weekday deliveries). Unfortunately we are unable to deliver at the weekend but some evenings are available. Please contact us if you require a substantial order out of these areas.

We expect there may be a number of loose items which cannot fit into a boxes and bags with non-fragile contents however when self packing please make sure the majority of your home contents are in strong stackable boxes. Remember fragile or heavy items are sealed in smaller cartons and that boxes are not over filled.  Clearly labelling each box with it’s room and general contents will save time and hassle at your new home when it comes to unpacking. This will also allow the removal team to work efficiently when offloading into different rooms around your new home.

Upon request we can offer an unpacking service which usually involves emptying boxes whilst placing contents on shelves, kitchen counters, beds or other available surfaces near to the position where you want them. We usually stop at this point and recommend you arrange your cupboards so you know where everything is! This service also includes the team flat packing boxes and boxing up our consumable materials (i.e. bubble, paper and tape) for recycling. A disposal fee will apply if we are requested to dispose of anything else and quoted per request.

Dismantling and reassembling furniture:

If you prefer to relax during the whole removal process we can dismantle and reassemble all types of furniture. You may not simply have the time before or energy to take care of this after a tiring day. It is usually a requirement to dismantle furniture items such as cots, bed frames, large square bookcases and large double or triple wardrobes. Note during being moved, larger self assembly furniture may not withstand the necessary lifting and twisting forces applied to it therefore taking the item apart gives it a better chance of surviving the trip!

Depending on access some large sofas will need their feet off or even armrests detached where possible. We have contracted for DFS therefore offer the necessary ‘know how’ for similar sofas. If not on the quotation provided beforehand you will need to take down all curtains, fixtures and fittings prior to the arrival of your moving team.

Contents of garages, garden sheds and lofts:

Storage areas at home are especially dusty and occasionally damp. Be sure to organise these items prior to the moving day; replacing all disintegrated boxes, cleaning all tools and discarding any rubbish. Remember, ‘If you don’t use it, lose it’. Flammable goods can not be transported as this will render our insurance void.
